A red Seat Leon collided head‑on with a Citroën C4 Picasso on Wigan Road in Bolton, Greater Manchester, in the early hours of Sunday 11 January 2026. The impact, estimated at around 12.45 am, killed both drivers – the Leon driver, aged 18‑19, and the Citroën driver, a man in his 50s – along with two passengers from the Leon. All four were pronounced dead at the scene. Five passengers were taken to hospital with injuries. Greater Manchester Police, the fire service and ambulance crews attended within minutes; firefighters used cutting equipment to extricate victims. Investigators are urging witnesses to provide dash‑cam or CCTV footage as the Serious Collision Investigation Unit probes the incident.
