Former Winnipeg Officer Sentenced to 7 Years for Corruption and Drug‑Trafficking

Former Winnipeg police constable Elston Bostock was sentenced to seven years in prison on Jan. 23 2026 after pleading guilty to a long list of crimes. The plea followed a 20‑month investigation, Project Fibre, that began in April 2024 and uncovered offences dated back to 2016, including selling drugs to friends and other officers, fixing traffic tickets, stealing cannabis from a scene and sending a photo of a topless woman who had overdosed. Bostock, 49, faced 32 separate charges, and the judge, Kenneth Champagne, noted a pre‑sentencing recommendation of seven years but considered an even longer term. He accepted the joint plea of seven years after the Crown capped the request at six years for provincial offences and one year for a federal drug charge. The case also saw three other officers charged, one of whom pleaded guilty on Nov. 2025.
