Ryan Wedding, 44, a Canadian who finished 24th in the parallel giant slalom at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, was arrested in Mexico on 22 January 2026. The FBI, which had listed him among its “10 Most Wanted” for a $15 million reward, accused him of running a cocaine ring that shipped tons annually from Colombia through Mexico to Southern California and Canada. He allegedly ordered the murder of a federal witness in Medellín, Colombia, to thwart extradition to the U.S. Wedding operated in Mexico under the Sinaloa cartel, using aliases such as El Jefe, Public Enemy and James Conrad King. He was previously convicted in the U.S. in 2010, released, and later faced Canadian charges dating back to 2015.
