Fog Warning Threatens Flights at Manchester, Liverpool
Fog could cut visibility to 300m, risking delays across Manchester and Liverpool airports.

On 15 January 2026 the Met Office issued a yellow fog warning that could reach visibility below 100 metres, extending till 7 am Friday across parts of England and Wales, including north of Merthyr Tydfil, the West Midlands and the North West between Hereford and Lancaster. Manchester Airport faces a 40% risk of dense fog, with visibility possibly dropping to 300 metres, while Liverpool John Lennon Airport warns of a 30% chance of fog below 300 metres. The premature cloud cover could disrupt flights, ferry travel and public transport, and a separate yellow rain warning applies to southern England with up to 5 cm of rain and 50‑mph gusts expected.
