Cole Misner, 24, a construction worker and devoted father of two, was found dead in the snow the morning after his minivan rolled over on a country road near the south‑Ottawa community of Vernon on the night of January 27, 2026. Ottawa police responded at 11:30 p.m. but left after failing to locate anyone. A police officer returned the next day and discovered Misner, 13 km from his Winchester home, beneath the snow. His fiancée, 25‑year‑old Loraleigh Bailey, and their children are mourning as the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) probes possible police oversight. The family plans celebrations in Ottawa and Guelph while awaiting answers.
