Family cremates wrong body after Glasgow hospital mistake
Hospital apologises after bereaved family received incorrect body for cremation.

The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow has apologised after a bereaved family was given the wrong body for a cremation ceremony. Morgue staff at the £840m hospital incorrectly labelled a corpse and passed it to undertakers, a mistake only discovered after the funeral service and cremation had taken place. The error denied another family the chance to bury their relative. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde blamed human error, suspended the staff involved, and launched an immediate investigation. The hospital, opened in 2015, has previously faced issues with infections and building systems. The Scottish government expressed deep concern, while the incident is being investigated by the senior inspector of burial, cremation and funeral directors.
