Eddie Hearn Acknowledges Anthony Joshua’s Future After Fatal Nigerian Car Crash
Eddie Hearn says Anthony Joshua’s future may end after a Nigerian crash that killed two close associates.

On 12 December 2025, the Boxing Champions Alliance crashed into a barricade in Lagos, Nigeria, killing two staff members close to world‑champion Anthony Joshua. The tragedy left Joshua physically unscathed but emotionally shaken. Speaking to GB News on 24 January 2026, promoter Eddie Hearn admitted the incident could signal the end of Joshua’s professional boxing career. Hearn explained that the crash had forced Joshua to halt training, and the loss of key advisers hampered his ability to plan future fights. He said that if Joshua cannot secure a suitable opponent, the WBC title could be vacated within six months. The fight community has expressed deep concern as Joshua navigates the uncertain road ahead.
