Daily Bread Cuts Ties with Feed Scarborough Over Invoice Fraud Allegations

Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto has chosen to terminate the membership and funding of Scarborough‑based Feed Scarborough, citing financial irregularities uncovered in an audit. The charity alleges that Feed Scarborough submitted over $18,000 of invoices that the vendors could not verify, reimbursed more than $111,000 to former board chair‑CEO Suman Roy in self‑approved expense reports, and used an $620,000 grant to buy $10,000 of food from Roy’s own company, Gourmet Alchemy. The board’s decision was made last week, and the agency will lose food deliveries after its contract expires on 31 January 2026. Daily Bread reported the concerns to Toronto Police in November 2025; no charges have yet been filed. Feed Scarborough maintains that it will operate at least one bank and works with Soso World Ministries for distribution starting February.
