Catherine O'Hara, the Canadian‑American actress famed for roles in Home Alone (1990, 1992) and the Emmy‑winning series Schitt's Creek (2015‑2021), passed away at her Los Angeles home on Friday, 30 January 2026, at age 71 after a brief illness. Her agency, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), issued a statement confirming the death. O'Hara's career began at Toronto's Second City Theatre, where she met Eugene Levy, later co‑star in SCTV and Schitt's Creek. She earned a Primetime Emmy as lead actress in Schitt's Creek in 2020, a nomination for The Last of Us on HBO, and a Golden Globe nomination for The Studio. She is survived by husband Bo Welch and sons Matthew and Luke, and will be honored with a private memorial.
