Canada's Jeremy Hansen Joins Artemis II Mission to Revisit the Moon
Artemis II launches in February 2026 with 4 astronauts, including Canada’s Jeremy Hansen, to test tech and seek Earth‑benefiting science.

Artemis II is set to launch in early February 2026 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center with a crew of four: Canadian Jeremy Hansen, US astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch. The 10‑day mission will orbit the Moon, testing life‑support hardware and gathering data for Artemis III, planned for 2028, which will land at the Moon’s south pole. The mission aims to develop new engineering techniques and drive scientific research that translates into Earth technologies—computer chips, cordless tools, water purification and even Canadarm‑based surgical systems. With 61 countries invested, China targets 2030 and India 2040 for lunar exploration, while private firms eye mining for water and helium‑3, boosting a growing space economy.
