2026 promises significant space events for Canadian skywatchers. NASA's Artemis II mission, launching Feb. 5, will send four astronauts including CSA's Jeremy Hansen on a 10-day lunar orbit, marking humanity's farthest journey. Canadians can view a total lunar eclipse March 3 and a partial solar eclipse Aug. 12. The Perseid meteor shower peaks Aug. 12-13 with 150 meteors/hour under ideal conditions. Key missions include Rocket Lab's Venus probe (summer), Japan's Martian Moon Exploration to Phobos, and the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope launch (fall 2026). The Geminids peak Dec. 13-14 with 150 meteors/hour. CBC's Nicole Mortillaro reports from Toronto.
