Cole Reschny sparked a dominant performance with the opening goal at 13:58 of the first period, followed by quick strikes from Tij Iginla, Michael Misa, Sam O'Reilly, and Brady Martin. Canada scored five goals in just five minutes and 49 seconds, chasing Slovak starter Michal Pradel after allowing three goals on 11 shots. Alan Lendak replaced him and finished with 27 saves. Canada added two more goals in the second period through Porter Martone and Cole Beaudoin, while Jan Chovan scored Slovakia's lone goal at 16:50. Canada's victory sets up a semifinal rematch against the Czech Republic on Sunday, January 4, in St. Paul, Minnesota, seeking revenge after quarterfinal losses to the Czechs in the previous two tournaments.
