Calgary Lawyer Pleads Guilty to Forgery After Disbarment

On Thursday, Jan 15, 2026, former Calgary lawyer Ronverg Mendoza, who was disbarred in 2025, pleaded guilty to forging court documents in a family‑law case. Mendoza had represented Gord Weston, a Canadian resident seeking parenting time with his youngest daughter. Beginning in 2021, Mendoza sent forged emails that scheduled a non‑existent virtual hearing on Aug 10, 2022, and later claimed the trial had been rescheduled to Sept 9 due to “resource constraints.” Weston's attempts to confirm trial dates were met with false information, leading him to attend a courthouse on Oct 28, 2022 believing a hearing would allow access to his child. The deception caused Weston to lose months of parenting time, and the case dragged on for two years before the guilty plea. Justice Ryan Anderson heard the case, with prosecutor Megan Rosborough presenting the agreed statement of facts.
