On 12 January 2026, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes (31 yrs, 4.5 m followers) received a hacked post on X that read “let’s get rid of INEOS.” The cyber‑attack came just hours after United lost 2‑1 to Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday 10 January 2026, with Brajan Gruda, Danny Welbeck, Ben Sesko and Shea Lacey involved. The post was linked to co‑owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos, a global chemical firm. The club’s official X account confirmed the hack, urged supporters not to engage, and the message was later removed after more than 84,000 views.
