On 12 January 2026 a head‑on collision on Wigan Road, Bolton involved a taxi and a Seat Leon, killing four men – Masrob Ali (54, taxi driver), Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar (18), Farhan Patel (18) and Mohammed Danyaal (19). Five people were taken to hospital; a 29‑year‑old woman suffered life‑threatening injuries, a 28‑year‑old woman and a 30‑year‑old man serious, a 29‑year‑old man minor, and an 18‑year‑old man minor. Emergency teams responded at about 12:50 am, with fire crews and police cordoning the scene for roughly two hours. Police released a statement urging caution before sharing footage.
