Body Found after Missing Christmas Swimmer
Body of 47‑year‑old swimmer missing since Christmas Day located on Budleigh Salterton beach
Following a 47‑year‑old man who vanished during a Christmas Day swim at Budleigh Salterton Beach on 25 Dec 2025, he was found dead on 21 Jan 2026 at about 08:45 am. Devon and Cornwall Police were dispatched to the shore after the body was spotted and he was pronounced dead on scene. A second swimmer, in his 60s and from East Devon, remains missing. Superintendent Ryan Doyle said authorities are supporting families and continuing to search. Coastguard teams from Exmouth, Beer and RNLI lifeboats from Exmouth, Teignmouth and Torbay have been involved, with conditions described as punishing.
