Bereaved mother’s harrowing stillbirth aftercare | Sky News
Kelsey Parker laments traumatic care after her son Phoenix’s stillbirth at 39 weeks, urging UK maternity reforms.

Kelsey Parker (35), widow of late Wanted singer Tom Parker, told Sky News’ The UK Tonight on 28 Jan 2026 that she suffered a ‘harrowing’ experience after giving birth at home at 39 weeks and the death of her son Phoenix in June 2025. She was then admitted to a maternity ward with other new mothers, describing a lack of kindness and confusion among staff. Parker, who had to take unprecedented time off work to heal, called for systemic changes amid a broader crisis in UK maternity care. Over 180 people have emailed Sky News about birth trauma, and 2026 may bring the much‑awaited Amos review into focus. Tom Parker died of brain cancer in 2022.
