Australian Woman Discovers 50 Holocaust‑Lost Relatives with DNA Test
A 74‑year‑old Australian finds 50 living relatives after a MyHeritage DNA test.

Adriana Turk, 74, of Australia has long believed her Jewish family perished in the Holocaust, until a MyHeritage DNA test uncovered roughly 15,000 DNA matches. Cross‑referenced with family trees, she identified about 50 living relatives across Europe, the Middle East and South America, including a 73‑year‑old second cousin, Raanan Gidron of Israel. Turk’s father, John Hans Turk, fled Nazi Germany for New Zealand in 1937 and died in 1990. Her only brother died in 2024, prompting her search. The discovery coincided with International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and Turk plans a first‑time trip to Germany and Israel in summer 2026.
