Former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was left 'shocked' after a fatal car crash in Nigeria that killed two of his close friends.

Former two-time world heavyweight champion boxer Anthony Joshua, 36, was left 'shocked' and 'couldn't talk' after a fatal car crash in Makun, Ogun State, Nigeria, on Monday, December 29, 2025. The incident occurred around midday local time on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu when a black Lexus carrying Joshua collided with a parked red Sinotruck. Joshua sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital in stable condition for treatment along with another injured person. Tragically, two of Joshua's close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, both 36, were killed. An eyewitness, Ajala Yusuf Oluwaseyi, reported hearing a loud 'boom' and seeing the Lexus drive under the truck. Nigerian authorities stated the Lexus was suspected to be traveling beyond the legal speed limit and lost control while overtaking. The crash happened just over a week after Joshua's victory over YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami.
