Alcaraz Splits with Coach Ferrero Ahead of Aussie Open
Alcaraz confirms a joint split with coach Ferrero as the 2026 Australian Open looms.

On 16 January 2026, Spanish superstar Carlos Alcaraz announced that he and his long‑term coach Juan Carlos Ferrero had part ways, a move he described as a joint decision taken just weeks before the 2026 Australian Open in Melbourne. Alcaraz, who was ranked world No. 1 in 2023 and set to defend his singles title, said he remains focused on completing a career Grand Slam this winter, which would require a title at the Australian Open. Ferrero, a former world No. 1 and 2005 Rio Olympics bronze medallist, was no doubt a key figure in Alcaraz’s rapid rise, having coached him to multiple ATP titles. Despite the split, Alcaraz stressed that he still values Ferrero’s guidance and the partnership’s successes.
