Acetaminophen Safe in Pregnancy, No Autism Link

A meta‑analysis published in The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health on Jan 13, 2026 reviewed ~60 studies, including sibling‑comparison designs, and found no association between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or intellectual disability. The review followed Trump’s Sept 22, 2025 warning that Tylenol raised autism risk. Researchers led by Dr. Asma Khalil of St. George’s Hospital in London noted that symptoms prompting acetaminophen use—fever, infection, inflammation—are likely the real risk factor. The FDA, ACOG, and Kenvue reaffirmed Tylenophilism as safe when taken as directed.
